Unplug and recharge this summer

Unplug and recharge this summer

 29 Jun 2017

Whether you are recovering from Glastonbury or getting packed for a trip to the beach annual leave is something we all look forward to each year. Whatever you do with your holidays it is important to take time away from work and the benefits of doing so are valuable to both you and your employer. Many of us are working longer and often beyond traditional retirement age and therefore work life balance is an increasingly attractive selling point of many organisations. Benefits associated with taking time off work include the opportunity to clear our minds, rest and refocus. It is also thought that having breaks increases innovation and creativity as many of our best ideas are born out of play.

These benefits can boost productivity and whilst we are now interconnected through mobile technology it is important to do that holiday handover with your colleagues and manager to ensure you do leave work in the workplace before a holiday. Putting on out of office email, sharing tasks with teammates and recording that voicemail on work phones improves mental health, well-being and increases time spent with family and friends so wherever you go this summer, make the most of your time away from the office and enjoy your holiday.
