Our client is looking for an Area Operations Manager to ensure the safe and effective operation of all ports and services within your allocated area.  You will be expected to deliver port budgets and control costs associated with port operations whilst achieving key performance targets to deliver the Service Delivery.

Ideally you will complex Transport, Aviation or Rail experience.
 
JOB DESCRIPTION 
  • Lead and support staff in the provision of safe and efficient operations. 
  • Effectively manage shore based operational support for the port/ferry function in your area.
  • Work closely with the IOCC and Contact Centre delivering customer service and ensure effective responses to disruption.
  • Work closely with local authorities in your Area to ensure appropriate planning is in place to support operations and passengers during disruption.
  • Preparation, monitoring and delivery of port budgets, including input to the business planning process. 
  • Linking with local community bodies, Ferry Committees and other transport operators to maintain a positive working relationship with stakeholders in your geographical area of responsibility
  • Adapting services and functions in response to customer requirements and developments in the local communities. 
  • Working in partnership with the Harbours Manager and 3rd party port operators; this includes allocation and sharing of resources, equipment and the necessary infrastructure underpinning port operations. 
  • Lead and support the Port Managers managing the recruitment, development and performance of port staff within your remit. 
  • Development of the port/ship interface by arranging and chairing a regular programme of route team meetings and ensuring action is taken to continuously improve the service.  
  • Ensure regular port safety committee meetings are held. 
  • Ensure commercial opportunities are identified to the Commercial Team and, if agreed, implemented.
