Our client requires a Business Support Analyst to join them on a fixed term contract for 12 months. 
 
The Business Support Analyst provides key support to the Service Delivery function. The role is responsible for delivering key analytical activities and outputs for this support function. This is a varied and challenging role supporting department core business and Transition Programme projects. This role supports the Service Delivery function which has responsibility for delivering Customer Ferry services, Future Planning & Timetables and Port and Harbour operations. The business function is also responsible for delivering the programme of change around Customer Experience activities sponsored by the Service Delivery Director.
 
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
 
  • Qualified Accountant with post qualification experience
  • Demonstrable experience and success within a similar business partnering role.
  • The ability to input content into financial reporting that presents financial information in a clear, professional and corporate manner for Executive level review.
  • Track record of meeting deadlines and to deliver professional outputs within challenging timelines.
  • Strong analytical skills, financial Modelling and analysis skills – Proficient in Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills, influencing and building relationships with business colleagues.
JOB DESCRIPTION
 
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial results, adhering to departmental deadlines.
  • Deliver insightful monthly and quarterly reporting packs to Service Delivery area tracking financial performance against business plan and budget.
  • Close Month end tasks on time as defined by the Accounting team.
  • Support the Business Support Lead delivering outputs aligned to defined Planning & Reporting Team processes.  This includes Headcount planning, key expenditure phasing and providing end to end support for business area.
  • Key supporting role in Planning Forecast updates supporting the Business Support Lead with content for Quarterly Business Review presentation packs reviewed with Executive and delivered to deadlines.
  • Cost Centre management including CPS approval.
  • Work closely with business partners on performance improvement activities.
  • Seek opportunities to reduce transaction processing activities whilst demonstrating a strong control environment.
  • Support Change Programme, governance responsibility for project implementation, expenditure and benefits during business case approval cycle. Track project spend during delivery and align benefit realisation impact into forecast cycle.
  • Demonstrate understanding of contract commitments and drive completion with business partners.
  • Deliver the tasks defined by the Business Support Lead to deliver a first-class business partner service across the team.
  • Be a trusted business partner for the Service Delivery areas, adding value through insight, challenge and support. Show awareness of key commercial and financial risks impacting the department, supporting mitigating actions or activities as required.
  • Support Finance colleagues in Planning & Reporting and Accounting with shared commitment to meet deadlines.
  • Work closely with Business Support team within Finance team driving continuous process improvement, standardisation and innovation.
