Cadet Officer

Our Glasgow based Maritime client requires a Cadet Officer to join them on a permanent basis.  As a Cadet Officer you will be responsible for the implementation and delivery of the company’s cadet program.
  • Familiar with maritime industry regulations and seafarer certification
  • Previous experience of recruitment is preferred

  • Ensure compliance with the cadet policy and procedure.
  • Involved in cadet recruitment projection and planning based on a number of factors including retention, planned growth, promotions etc.
  • Conduct company presentations to intake regions
  • Oversee cadet intake process for the company including but not limited to screening process, interview, assessments and allocation of vessels.
  • Ensure screening and technical interview questions database is reviewed and updated
  • Administer onboarding of successful applicants into Marine HR Crew Management System and carry out initial document checks
  • Ensure successful candidates are included in induction process prior to joining their first vessel
  • Maintain contact with regional training institutions and/or cadet management companies in order to monitor progress of academic studies and sea phase
  • Maintain directory and status of cadets including graduation/promotion dates
  • Confirming mandatory documentation is satisfied before cadets travel to embark vessels or attend courses
  • Coordinate embarkation of cadets and trainees with vessel, agent and Marine Personnel Officer
  • Arrange flight/travel arrangements and issue relevant documents for embarking vessels and confirming receipt with the cadet
  • Manage transition planning for promotions from cadets to officer ranks and liaise with training team where required
  • Monitor and review performance reports in Marine HR Crew Management System and highlight potential issues
  • Approve and code cadet sponsorship invoices and travel/onboard expenses
  • Assist in preparation of annual training budget for cadets and nationalization projects
  • Provide engagement where possible, such as office visits, conferences attendance and orals preparation.
  • Provide after office hours coverage as appropriate
  • Support Training Officer and Recruitment Officer wherever required
  • Any other tasks as delegated by Training & Recruitment Manager.
