Our Glasgow based client are recruiting for a Crewing Team Leader to assist the Senior Crew Co-Ordinator in supervision of the Personnel department. The Crewing Team Leader will be responsible for ensuring that the company’s vessels are manned with competent, qualified, and suitably experienced personnel and that documentation and certification compliance is maintained at all times.
 
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
  • Considerable experience in a HR/Logistics shipping role
  • Knowledge of HR Shipping legislation
  • Highly organized, with both excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure
  • Able to influence, negotiate and mediate
  • Skilled in report writing, data collation and preparation
 
JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Overall responsibility for all personnel related matters and queries for personnel placed on vessels under their responsibility, which frequently includes liaising with spouse and/or other family members.
  • Liaison with the operations/technical departments and where applicable Senior Management and/or Client regarding the assignment of personnel aboard company managed vessels.
  • Routine supervision of the external manning agents and liaising with external manning agents on crew being assigned to the company’s vessels.
  • Monitoring of all employee documentation and certification requirements and ensuring the necessary compliance is maintained; including but not limited to; Passports, Visas, Home country license, Endorsements (e.g. dangerous cargo endorsements), Flag state licenses, Medicals (industry standard and client specific) and training requirements.
  • Monitoring all employee personnel files, vessel files and database records necessary to accurately record employee locations, documentation, certification, training, and payroll in accordance with company policies and standards, whilst adhering to payroll deadlines.
  • Monthly variance reporting to provide finance team of all overspend details where required.
  • Offer support to the Fleet Personnel manager in supervising of staff by providing guidance and direction to personnel department and other internal parties when required.
  • Supervision of HR, Logistic Officers, and Assistants to ensure all employee documentation and certification requirements are being maintained through daily maintenance of all employee personnel files, vessel files and database records, necessary to accurately record employee locations, documentation, certification, training, and payroll records in accordance with Company policies and standards.
  • Monitoring of recruitment practices for new hire personnel.
  • Identifying training needs and recovering training bonds where applicable.
  • Liaison with the training department on scheduling of training courses for personnel under their responsibility. 
  • Participating in the on-call roster for out of hour’s coverage, offered by the personnel department.
  • Attend and input to meetings and management reporting as and when required, to meet strict deadlines.
  • Direct responsibility for scheduling matters for an assigned pool of officers.
