Reporting to the Senior Electrical Technician this role will require you to undertake planned, preventative and drydock maintenance on the company’s vessels.  In the role you will work closely with the Senior Electrical Technician and the shore services team to provide comprehensive Electrical support to the small vessel fleet, the Asset Management Department and when required the major vessel fleet.
 
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
  • HNC or equivalent in marine electrical engineering
  • Health and Safety/Risk assessment

  • Work planning and prioritising
  • Writing work specifications and electrical risk assessments
  • Marine Electrical and electronics
  • Measuring and testing of electrical systems
  • Vessel distribution and discrimination systems
  • Generators and motors
  • AC and DC low voltage circuits up to 440V
  • Installation of new equipment
  • Experience in steering / hydraulic systems
  • Thermo graphic survey experience including thermography, interpretation of survey results and acting upon them

JOB DESCRIPTION 
  • Ensure that company safety procedures and instructions are observed whilst working on-board a vessel, at a port or in the company workshops
  • Preparing risk assessments and method statements for tasks to be completed either on-board a vessel whilst at sea, in port or dry dock and within the workshop
  • Undertaking works in relation to installation, maintenance or overhaul of electrical and electronic equipment on-board vessels or within company workshops as required by Head of Electrical Engineering
  • Being designated the co-ordinator of the electrical department, as nominated by the Technical Services Manager during the absence of the Senior Electrical Technician
  • Being able to cover weekend standby rotas as required
  • Assist with the maintenance of stock control, ordering and general internal organisation within the electrical department
  • Ensure that the necessary records and paperwork are completed accurately and timeously in accordance with the appropriate procedures and relevant work instructions
  • Ensure that any company vehicles allocated to their use are kept clean and tidy
  • Any other duties required by the Senior Electrical Technician and/or Head of Electrical Engineering
