We are seeking a Forecasting & Planning Manager to join our client based in Gourock.  Using effective leadership, management and direction you will be expected to develop an effective approach to demand management and vessel deployment across the network to ensure the business can meet the short, medium and long-term demand on services. You will also define, develop, manage and maintain the company’s short, medium and long range forecasts to inform future vessel deployment, the Network Development Strategy, seasonal Service Delivery Plan whilst optimising network capacity and make best use of available assets.
 
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
  • Experienced senior manager with minimum of 5 years' experience of working in a demand planner / demand planning manager role
  • Degree in information management / information statistics preferred
  • In depth understanding of the company network, routes and operation
  • Experience of working in a multi-agency public sector environment
  • Line management and performance management experience
  • Experience of objective setting, performance management, performance feedback and appraisals
  • Experience of using information for management purposes and in setting and monitoring targets and performance indicators
  • Understanding of the data being stored and the architecture of the storage facilities used within the business to enable data analysis activities to be undertaken
  • Experience of information management and understanding of the principles used to present data appropriately for specified purposes and audiences
  • Evidence of excellent communication and negotiation/influencing skills with excellent reporting writing ability
  • Exceptional analytical and Excel skills
  • Effective leadership skills. Ability to lead and create a clear common purpose amongst the members of the team
 
JOB DESCRIPTION 
  • Define and implement the strategy and approach for demand management and capacity planning
  • Accountable for the creation, development and delivery of all demand management and capacity forecasting reports
  • Responsible for ensuring that the data needs of all functions within Service Delivery Planning and the Regional Service Delivery teams are met in respect of demand management and capacity forecasting and that the data is accurate, complete and maintained effectively
  • Responsible for ensuring the quality and accuracy of all data analysis outputs and management reports emanating from the Forecasting & Planning team
  • Identify opportunities and approaches for sensitivity and ‘What If' analysis to identify actions that will lead to improved reliability, availability, reduced costs and in improved customer experience across the network
  • Support the Head of Service Delivery Planning in providing consultancy advice on an ad-hoc basis for Transport Scotland and other relevant parties as required
  • Provide analysis and information to support business development proposals
  • Provide clear leadership and direction to the Forecasting & Planning team on the prioritisation and delivery of all activities required to meet the objectives of the Service Delivery Planning team
  • Responsible for the monitoring and reporting of all fuel data, identifying key trends and indicators and working with key areas of Regional Service Delivery to identify and implement opportunities for improvements to deliver environmental, efficiency and cost saving benefits
  • Responsible for the management of fuel monitoring technology and systems, working with external system suppliers, Asset Management, vessels' staff and IS to ensure ongoing capture, recording, maintenance and delivery of data which is accurate and timely whilst ensuring technical issues are identified, acted upon and resolved promptly
  • Responsible for ensuring alignment with organisational developments in data and information management
  • Ensure the Forecasting & Planning team are competent and ready to deliver robust service response in times of increased network activity
  • Design and develop effective staff training programmes, ensuring mandatory, professional and quality standards are specified and delivered.
