Our Scottish Ship Building client requires a Health & Safety Manager who will be responsible for co-ordinating the effective delivery of a safe working environment whilst maintaining full operational records and managing all Health and Safety.

Keeping the site up to date with Health and Safety legislation.

To maintain and implement the companies Health and Safety management system.

To implement site Health and Safety training.
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT

Will hold a NEBOSH General Certificate.

Degree in Health, Safety and Environmental Management. (preferred)

Must have experience in risk assessment and accident investigation.

Must have shipyard experience or experience in a similar industry i.e. Oil & Gas.

An understanding of current legislation and compliance.

Knowledge of Business Management System and contract procedures.

Knowledge of legislative requirements and best practice in Health & Safety.

Ability to conduct inspections, recommend preventative action, develop new initiatives and co-ordinate to ensure their implementation.

Sound knowledge of I.T programs.

Effectively Communicating and Managing Relationships.

Applying professional knowledge.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- To advise on and adhere to, procedures relating to health and safety strategy.
- Manage safety in-line with company policy ensuring all activities are carried out in a safe manner (unloading, loading, storage and issue)
- General administration and reporting as required.
- To be fully aware of stock levels in the stores and advise the respective departments on the availability of goods.
- Record and incoming material defects and report to buyer or stores supervisor or plant re lifting equipment.
- Report to Stores Supervisor as required on discrepancies or issues within stores.
- Best practice, continually working towards or introducing better/smarter ways of working.
- Be an ambassador for the company. Display a business-like approach using tact and diplomacy where required or appropriate.
