We have an opportunity for an HR Team Leader to join our client’s crewing department. 
 
The HR Team Leader will assist the Senior Crew Co-Ordinator in supervision of the Personnel department to ensure that the company’s vessels are manned with competent, qualified and suitably experienced personnel, ensuring that documentation and certification compliance is maintained at all times.
 
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
  • 3 years experience in a HR (Crewing)/Logistics shipping role.
  • Knowledge of HR Shipping legislation
  • Be highly organised.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Have good problem solving, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Strong Report writing skills and experience with Data Collation and preparation.
  • Proven experience within a team leader / managerial role
 
JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Overall responsibility for all personnel related matters and queries for personnel placed on vessels under their responsibility which frequently includes liaising with spouse and/or other family members.
  • Liaison with the operations/technical departments and where applicable Senior Management and/or Client regarding the assignment of personnel aboard company managed vessels.
  • Routine supervision of the external manning agents and liaising with external manning agents on crew being assigned to the company’s vessels.
  • Monitoring of all employee documentation and certification requirements and ensuring the necessary compliance is maintained.
  • Monitoring all employee personnel files, vessel files and database records necessary to accurately record employee locations, documentation, certification, training and payroll in accordance with company policies and standards, whilst adhering to payroll deadlines.
  • Monthly variance reporting. To provide finance team of all overspend details where required.
  • Supervision of HR, Logistic Officers and Assistants to ensure all employee documentation and certification requirements are being maintained through daily maintenance of all employee personnel files, vessel files and database records necessary to accurately record employee locations, documentation, certification, training and payroll records in accordance with Company policies and standards.
  • Monitoring of recruitment practices for new hire personnel i.e. identifying requirements, checking applicants for suitability to position, arranging interviews, photocopying & checking all documentation and issuing employment offers.
  • Reviewing seafarer appraisals and ensuring action is taken when required i.e. promotions, training terminations etc.
  • Participating in the on-call roster for out of hour’s coverage, offered by the personnel department.
  • Direct responsibility for scheduling matters for an assigned pool of officers
