Our client, based in the Netherlands is looking for an Hydrodynamics Engineer, with proven experience in Dynamic Mooring Analysis and Ship Hydrodynamics, to join their expanding team.  You will be primarily responsible for performing at least 20 detailed mooring studies per year for cruise berths from ports around the world. Special projects will include passing ship effects, LNG side-by-side bunkering operations etc.
 
Established since 2009, our client is a world class marine training centre based in Netherlands, specialising in safety and excellence in maritime operations.  They have advanced simulator equipment and technology and provide first- class maritime training. 
 
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
  • Proficient in English (written and spoken)
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Good team worker
  • Experience in using Optimoor, aNySIM, Orcaflex or similar mooring software
  • MATLAB or similar programming language experience
  • Proficient in technical report writing
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience in using 3D panel method (AQWA, WAMIT, DIFFRAC or similar software) for calculating vessel response to first order wave effects
  • Familiarity with PIANC and OCIMF mooring related guidelines
 
JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Perform mooring analysis to support cruise ship operations
  • Acquire all the required data together with Port Study Captain
  • Assess moored ship response under environmental loading such as wind, current and waves
  • Perform passing ship-moored ship analysis (including hydrodynamic interaction)
  • Perform mooring analysis for side-by-side moored vessels (ex. during LNG bunkering operations)
  • Generate mooring line loads, bollard forces and fender compression and reactions
  • Determine number, type and location of mooring lines and mooring bollards required to accommodate high wind events or to accommodate a passing ship
  • Write report and present results to management and staff
  • Assist Port Study team in executing risk assessment studies
  • Acquire data for creating and tuning ship mathematical manoeuvring models
  • Order new ship models from the simulator supplier (for bridge simulator)
  • Fine tune ship manoeuvring models as needed
