Manufacturing Support Engineer

We are recruiting for a Manufacturing Support Engineer for our Telecoms client, based in South-East London.
The Manufacturing Support Engineer is responsible to provide technical support to product and test systems within submerged manufacturing plant and to ensure smooth production flow.
  • Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Optics, Opto-electronics or equivalent.
  • Experience of electro-mechanical / optical manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of optical components, optical measurements, optical instruments, basic optical principles.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and believing in Lean culture/working environment.
  • Experience in electronic assemblies’ fault finding.
  • Experience in automated assembly and test measurement processes.
  • Experience in data analysis, graphs, histograms plotting etc.
  • Experience of high reliability product manufacture is ideal.
  • Ideal candidate will be a strong team player with good communication.
  • Experience in printed circuit board manufacturing dept.
  • Provide technical support for Repeaters / SEQ / BU / ROADM manufacturing.
  • Prioritise and resolve critical manufacturing issues within SLA.
  • Ensure that all instruments are calibrated and arrange for calibration whenever necessary.
  • Analyse data to prove certain trends per contract and provide feedback to IED.
  • Dispose production technical requests (IRs) within SLA.
  • Support other new product introductions as necessary (PRM, DCFO etc.).
  • Develop and maintain good communication lines with development engineers.
  • Make improvements to existing test stations, cabling, cable marking, design simple power, communication switching devices.
  • Maintain cleanliness and lean working environment with proper tooling, to procure tooling and necessary bits.
  • Build, validate, and commission test stations.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentations.
  • Ensure that test systems maintenance procedures are followed with proper paperwork and logbooks up to date.
  • Participate in analysis and debug of Field returns.
