Our marine client based in Immingham is looking for a Marine Superintendent to join their team.
 
As a Marine Superintendent you will assist the operation and wider management team in the provision of marine operational expertise to ensure all vessels and crew meet their safety, environmental and operational requirements.
 
JOB DESCRIPTION
  • To assist in the management of the marine operations ensuring that company obligations for availability of expertise, equipment and personnel are met at all times in order to maintain customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
  • To maximise the operational efficiency and effectiveness of marine operations and marine equipment in compliance with the company’s operating manual, particular emphasis on Health, Safety and Environment.
  • Provide operational support to the port management teams and crew in order to maintain efficient towage operations. Assist in all areas of the operations team and take duties on a rota’d basis as part of the operations team. Will be the go-to person in case the Port manager is on holiday.
  • Assist in the coordination of training and development support and provide regulatory expertise ensuring that marine (deck and engine) personnel meet company and national requirements with respect to certification and training.
  • Work with the Technical Engineering team to ensure safe and effective transfer of vessels between ports and associated familiarisation of personnel to vessels.
  • Maintain all crew records including the management of timesheets for processing by payroll including the input and submission of payroll ensuring crew are correctly paid.
  • Processing of operational invoices, including entering details into HELM, ensuring sales invoices are generated timely.
  • Update and maintain “Cover Time Out” to ensure that the company are achieving transparency of crew utilisation and flexibility in order to reduce crew cost, sickness certificates are obtained as necessary. 
  • Encourage staff to contribute to the Employee Engagement Survey on an annual basis and ensure feedback of results and actions are given in a timely manner.
  • To have a broad understanding of the port’s commercial situation and contracts, and assist and deputise for the Port Managers in commercial activities where required.
  • To undertake other duties as required in line with the local requirements.
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
  • Sailing experience (preferably on small craft vessels) to a senior rank; minimum class 2 unlimited CoC (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Maritime Rules, Regulations, Codes and Guidelines; ISM Code and ISPS requirement’s and class (preferred).
  • 5 GCSE’s including Maths and English or equivalent.
  • Sound knowledge in international maritime regulations and industry standards.
  • Shore commercial / managerial experience (preferred).
  • UK Driving licence
