Payroll and Benefits Officer

Our Glasgow based Maritime client require a Payroll and Benefits Officer who, reporting to the HR (Payroll & Benefits) Manager, will be primarily responsible for supporting with payroll processing and associated tasks; including monthly/annual reconciliations; and all administration relating to employee benefits.

Alike all roles in a busy HR department, a key aspect of the Payroll and Benefits Officer position is to ensure consistency in everything that the Company does.
 
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in full cycle UK payroll.  International payroll experience is preferred
  • Experience of working within a HR team within a global organization
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles
  • Excellent skills with all basic Microsoft applications, in particular Excel
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to handle sensitive information with tact and diplomacy
  • Experience with a computerised payroll systems & cloud based HCM system
  • UK Payroll qualification or qualified by experience desirable, but not essential
  • Experience in Spanish/Canadian payroll advantageous
 
JOB DESCRIPTION
Payroll
  • Processing the full cycle monthly payroll for UK, Spain, and Luxembourg; the bi-weekly payroll for Canada; and providing support to our Bahrain and Philippines payroll initiators as required
  • Be the main point of contact for employee queries relating to payroll and tax
  • Provide support and advice on core documentation, for example payslips, P60s, P11Ds, T4s etc
  • Responsibility for payroll reconciliation and reporting for regional and global payrolls
  • Prepare post-payroll reports for finance on a monthly and quarterly basis
  • Collating information for HMRC reporting: P11D, PSA, Form 42 on an annual basis
  • Support in the administration of our shadow payroll and in producing tax returns for applicable employees
