Our marine client based in Gourock requires a Payroll Manager to provide a comprehensive Payroll service for the Company in accordance with Company procedures and in compliance with Government body requirements and to identify opportunities for Payroll improvement and participate in developments that affect the way staff are rostered and paid. This is a 6 – 8 month FTC. As Payroll Manager, you will work remotely, but please note that occasional travel to the Company’s head office at Gourock will be required.
 
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
  • Thorough knowledge and experience of computerised payroll systems
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in dealing with the conditions of service applicable to all staff
  • Experience in dealing with Income Tax, NIC, SSP, SMP and Paternity leave etc to meet Government body regulations
 
JOB DESCRIPTION 
  • Management of department processes should be in line with company expectations and ensuring consultation is completed with relevant process reviewers when adding, amending, deleting and reviewing owned processes
  • Ensure the production of Payroll and associated matters to agreed timescales in accordance with Company procedures and in compliance with Government body requirements
  • Identify opportunities for Payroll improvement and participate in developments that affect the way staff are rostered and paid
  • Provide relevant Payroll input to the integration of the HR/Payroll and Rostering Systems
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the Payroll and all associated information produced and undertake Payroll Audit checks in accordance with laid down procedures
  • Ensure Payroll payments are made in accordance with the Agreements with Trade Unions and incompliance with the Company’s Delegated Authorities and authorised signatories
  • Responsible for correct application of Income Tax Code changes, NIC, SSP, SMP and Paternity leave arrangements etc.
  • Responsible for Payroll administration of Company and Merchant Navy Pensions Funds ensuring integrity of Pension Fund information
  • Provide management information reports with clear and concise commentaries on all Payroll issues as requested by senior management
  • Ensure PIID issues are dealt with in accordance with laid down procedures
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of statutory year-end etc. returns
  • Lead and direct a small team working to accurate and tight timescales
  • Undertake other duties as directed
