Permit to Work Supervisor

Our Scottish Ship Building client requires a Permit to Work Supervisor.  
 
The Permit to Work Supervisor will be responsible for managing a busy permit to work office.  The Permit to Work Supervisor will ensure proper compliance with current Permit to Work procedures and established Health, Safety and Environmental controls and regulations to minimise risk of human loss/disability and material damage.

  • Ability to drive performance and standards.
  • A good level of fitness to meet the demands of the job due to regular work inspections within the yard and onboard.  Nature of work requires constant walking/climbing.
  • Good spoken and written communication skills with the ability to lead by example, to ensure the safety message and Yards Rules & Regulations are complied with.
  • Good working knowledge and ability to use Yards Computer System to produce reports and safety related promotional materials.
JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Organise, control and coordinate all PTW and Gas Safety issues within the projects, the yard and associated areas ensuring compliance to all operational procedures and legislation.
  • Maintain electronic records of all permits and gas certification.
  • Understand and demonstrate the correct safety behaviours, encouraging the team to deliver the same standards.
  • Liaise with project managers and clients when required to ensure safety compatibility between needs of client and company operating procedures. Ensuring the accuracy and relevance of required bridging or interface documents.
  • Assist and advise during serious incident investigations, ensuring details are recorded accurately and findings are disseminated in the correct manner to relevant parties.
  • On a daily basis monitor and keep up to date with all permitting and other related items in the projects attending daily permit and project meetings as required.
  • Be aware of the daily Safety shift reports and discuss action to be taken on items contained therein.
  • Oversee the routine inspection conducted by the Gas Safety and Permit teams on all work areas to assess effectiveness of the Safety programs.
  • Ensure all Gas Safety instruments are certified, calibrated regularly in accordance with required standards and records are maintained electronically.
  • Routinely audit permit compliance in the worksite and raise the necessary CAR if required.
  • Ensure that the training programs are relevant, up to date and that all operational staff have the correct level of training required for their job role.
  • Encourage a positive attitude to all personnel under their charge to ensure that safety standards are complied with and constantly improved.
  • Establish and implement PTW competency and training matrix required for the employees under their charge.
