The Planning & Control Manager is responsible for overseeing the provision of our clients’ Service Delivery Plan and managing, monitoring and responding to all operational incidents that occur within the Network. The Planning & Control Manager has full responsibility to ensure that the published timetable is, where possible, maintained to a high standard. They must pro-actively manage day to day vessel operations and, when disruption occurs, discharge effective contingency plans to ensure service recovery, working collaboratively with the Heads of Service Delivery North and South.
 
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience of working in a logistical or operational environment
  • Experience of multi-tasking and working in a high pressure environment
  • Ability to forward-think and use initiative
  • Customer focused
  • Knowledge and understanding of Port or Marine Operations
  • Comprehensive knowledge of vessels and network geography
  • High degree of computer literacy
  • Ability to work shifts
  • Logical thinker, with good analytic and creative problem solving skills
  • Strong organisational skills with a high attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple work priorities.
 
JOB DESCRIPTION 
  • Assist with development, maintenance and execution of route specific contingency plans to minimise the impact on customers wherever possible
  • Assist with creation of the Service Delivery Plan including deployment and resourcing
  • Ensure that the magnitude, scope and impact of each variation to the Service Delivery Plan is fully assessed so that the most appropriate and effective response is initiated
  • Delivery and decision authority for service delivery plan
  • Proactively manage day to day timetable updates
  • Disruption, crisis and contingency planning management
  • Work with Port Managers and Masters & Skippers to co-ordinate vessel deployment during disruption
  • Provide a co-ordination and control function in support of the Heads of Service Delivery North and South at the daily operations calls, recording issues and following up any outstanding actions
  • Interface with Customer Communications, Commercial and Port Staff for communications with customers
  • Monitoring of short and medium term weather forecasts across all key areas within the network and providing early warning of issues, weather warnings and particular areas of concern
  • Monitoring and reporting of service delivery quality
  • Assist with planning & management of the deployment of relief vessels in support of the delivery of Annual Maintenance Plan
  • Support the Operations Control Centre Manager and Heads of Service Delivery North & South to embed a collaborative culture needed for success, enhance network performance standards, increase commercial awareness and discharge CFL’s duties under the contract
