Our client, based in Fife, are looking to add a Purchasing Assistant to their team to assist in the management of all aspects of the procurement function and logistical operations.
 
THE SUCCESFUL APPLICANT
  • CIPS or similar qualification in purchasing desirable.
  • Good Knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular Excel spreadsheets, in addition to a sound understanding of Sage Line 500 system or other similar procurement software.
  • Adherence to Company and Regulatory documentation and procedures and familiarisation and application of the latest guidelines specific to the procurement function.
  • Excellent negotiating skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Able to maintain comprehensive records and provide accurate, detailed reports.
  • Provide required input to meetings, planning initiatives, etc.
  • Actively strive for improvements and efficiencies in the procurement process.
  • Continuously assess suppliers to ensure best value-for-money is being achieved.
  • Promote ideas which will increase efficiency, reduce costs or time without compromising service standards.
  • Support team performance by sharing knowledge and best practices at all levels.
  • Be open to any changes to working practices and / or development within the role.
  • Promote and develop effective working relationships with colleagues, other departments, suppliers, clients, customers, regulatory bodies, and authorities.
  • Ensure that all work is conducted in full compliance with Company Health, Safety & Environmental Policies, associated site safety regulations and good industry practice.
  • Endeavour to source goods, materials, and services from environmentally and ethically responsible suppliers.
 
JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Sourcing goods, materials and services required by the Organisation.
  • Negotiating supplier pricing, long term agreements and contracts with preferred suppliers and placing of daily purchase orders with suppliers.
  • Controlling operational aspects related to places, times, and strategic planning for purchases.
  • Keeping up to date with market trends.
  • Maintaining detailed records and accounts and reporting to the Procurement Manager.
  • Working with and supporting each division in achieving its business plan target.
