Our client, a leading British manufacturer of quality metal ceilings and bespoke architectural metalwork, are recruiting for a new Quality Engineer to join their South Ayrshire offices.

As Quality Engineer, you will report to the Head of Quality and your role will primarily be ensuring that the strategic direction and policies are understood and where required the objectives, targets and key performance indicators are monitored, measured, and reported to demonstrate continuous improvement of the management system.
 
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICAN
  • Maintain the Quality Management System and ensuring compliance through internal auditing activities
  • Carry out administration of customer concerns, ensuring resolution and corrective actions in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and actively reduce the cost of poor quality.
  • Must have a solid understanding of engineering drawings and specifications, ideally experienced in ‘New Product Introduction’ principles – such as APQP, PPAP and FMEA.
  • Knowledge of measurement systems; documentation and criteria; raw materials; manufacturing processes and product design principles (essential).
  • A creative problem solver, who is willing to work off their own initiative to identify root cause analysis, quality tools and preventative and corrective actions.
  • Conversant on Quality management Systems and International standards and have previously used statistical data reporting software’s, such as ‘Minitab’.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, computer literate a keen eye for detail.
 
JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Leading the team on all quality related documentation as part of the New Product Introduction Process, in addition to all quality related documentation as part of the New Equipment Introduction process.
  • Acting as the quality lead for all Special Product Introduction into the Company.
  • Leading all Product Based Complaints to closure and supporting Technicians with ISIR and NPI process.
  • The creation, administration and implementation of production control plans or inspection test plans to ensure products, and services meet or exceed customer requirements and expectations.
  • Conducting Measurement system analysis studies, reacting to the results and implementing improvements.
  • Developing and maintaining the Quality related standard operating procedures.
  • Analysing the results of capability studies and other analytical measurement systems.
  • Acting as the external provider approval of new or problematic suppliers, in addition to overseeing the approval of new materials, bought in products, finishes and contact processes.
  • Supporting ongoing external provider auditing, assessment and development and the production through product realization and offering ongoing support for production concerns and non-conformances.
  • Leading and supporting Quality Technicians in the Non-Conformance Report Resolution Process and participating in internal non-conforming product or process investigation.
  • Assisting in the continual improvement of manufacturing facilities, processes and products validation.
  • Conducting site visits to investigate customer concerns, non-conformances or issues with products or services.
  • Analysing complaints causes and implement corrective action to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Monitoring and reporting on the ‘cost of Poor Quality’ and warrantee costs.
  • Approving of product/production related concession requests.
  • Participating in the change management process to ensure the products and services continue to meet customers’ requirements.
  • Preparing and submitting quality reports and KPI results.
  • Participating in Design and Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis activities.
  • Carrying out all relevant training as and when required.
