Our Financial Services client, one of the leading independent wealth management companies in the UK, is looking for a Risk Partner to join their Operations team on an fixed term contract until January 2023.
Based in Newcastle (or Edinburgh), this is a specialist role with responsibility and ownership for the Risk Framework in Operations, ensuring compliance with relevant Operational Risk framework, external regulations, and internal policies, including the management and mitigation of associated risks.
 
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT 
  • 1st Line of Defence Risk experience, with expertise in building departmental Risk Assessments.
  • Understanding and experience of Risk and Control management in a complex and highly regulated environment.
  • Proven experience within a leadership and people management role, preference for a minimum of 3 years.
  • Cass Knowledge is preferred but not essential.
  • A good standard of education in GCSEs or equivalent is essential.
  • Adaptable to change and ability to lead others through change.
  • Ability to use initiative and prioritise delegating when required.
  • Experience of supporting and developing internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to adapt style and message to suit the audience
  • A goal-orientated and motivated self-starter with a strong focus on excellence in client service
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to use information to generate creative solutions
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
 
JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Manage risks and controls within Operations across locations, analysing trends to identify potential or actual issues
  • Undertake structured assurance and effectiveness assessments, risk evaluations and testing of the Operations Risk and Control environment across Operations.
  • Support and advise the Senior Risk Partner to set and assess risk appetite for all Operations risk types.
  • Take responsibility as the First Line of Defence for the management of risks and act as the point of escalation for any risks and issue beyond tolerance.
  • Support the development of Operations’ risk and control reporting framework and continually review its effectiveness
  • Attend regular Risk and Control review meetings
  • Support the management of risks and controls required for crucial business change initiatives undertaken by Operations
  • Undertake risk and control investigations, as required
  • Collaborate with Senior Operations Management to ensure the delivery of the Operations’ Strategy and BD strategy, as required
