Our client requires a Senior Electrical Technician to join their Asset Management Department in Gourock. 
 
Reporting to the Technical Services Manager this role will require you to be the team lead for the electrical/ electronic team within the shore services department.

Qualifications:
  • Marine Electrical/Electronic qualified to a minimum of HNC level, although HND would be preferred.

Experience:
  • Kongsberg controls systems
  • New build vessel experience
  • Marine Electrical and electronics
  • Measuring and testing of electrical systems
  • Vessel distribution and discrimination systems
  • Generators and motors
  • AC and DC low voltage circuits up to 440V
  • Installation of new equipment
  • Experience in steering / hydraulic systems
  • Thermo graphic survey experience including thermography, interpretation of survey results and acting upon them.
  • Vibration analyses - the aim, the process and the benefits.  
 
JOB DESCRIPTION 
 
  • In conjunction with the Technical Services Manager (TSM) lead and manage the electrical/ electronic team to achieve the standards and objectives set in line with the Asset Management Strategy.
  • In conjunction with the Technical Services Team ensure that the vessels are economically and efficiently maintained to be able to deliver a reliable and punctual service against the timetable.

  • Comply with and promote safety rules and procedures, challenge unsafe behaviour, and ensure all accidents, near misses are reported in line with the company's lifesaving rules.
  • Preparing risk assessments, method statements for tasks to be completed by the electrical/ electronic team in all areas where they may be asked to work. On-board a vessel whilst at sea, in port or dry dock and within the workshop areas. 
  • Act as a safety leader and promote a safe working environment at all times.
  • Undertaking works in relation to installation, maintenance or overhaul of electrical and electronic equipment on-board vessels, within company workshops and at ports as required by the TSM.
  • In conjunction with the TSM manage the allocation of maintenance and breakdown requirements to the electrical/ electronic team members and advise where potential schedule conflicts may arise.
  • Assist the TSM to provide technical advice and assistance on electrical and electronic topics including upgrade projects in the Asset Management Department.
  • In conjunction with the TSM, identify opportunities for development and continuously improve the electrical/ electronic team. Where possible and justifiable increase team capabilities to continue to deliver an excellent service.
  • Embrace change, support the Technical Services Manager to implement and embed changes as and when required.
  • Be able to cover weekend standby rotas as required.
  • Assist with the maintenance of stock control, ordering and general internal organisation within the electrical/ electronic department Ensure that the necessary records and paperwork are completed accurately and timeously in accordance with the appropriate procedures and relevant work instructions.
  • Ensure that any company vehicles allocated to their use are adequately maintained.
