Software Development Manager

Our Marine Digital Solutions client is recruiting for a Software Development Manager to join them. 
 
Reporting to Digital Solutions General Manager, the Software Development Manager will lead a dynamic software engineering function to ensure the design and delivery of high quality, robust software solutions while adhering to predefined timescales and budgets.
 
While not a hands-on development role, this will require extensive technical skills and experience as well as exceptional leadership skills that will allow you to guide colleagues while working effectively with the PMO function to ensure business needs are met while within governance frameworks.
 
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
 
Essential:
  • An experienced software leader who has worked in a geographically dispersed team of over 20 developers
  • Experience of hands-on development preferably working with the Microsoft stack (C#, .NET, Angular, SQL Server among others).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Capable of managing stakeholder expectations
Desirable:
  • Experience of delivering software solutions to external clients
  • Experience of working with Scrum or other Agile frameworks
  • Degree in Computer Science, Software development or related discipline.
 
JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Manage and lead day to day operations of the development team including scoping projects, resource management, assigning workload, training and development.
  • Produce regular detailed reports to keep Management and Stakeholders updated on the status of projects.
  • Manage and lead client facing engagements.
  • Continuously improve processes and procedures for efficient and effective software development while identifying areas to increase efficiency by way of automation.
  • Evaluate team performance against targets and KPI’s and report monthly to the General Manager
  • Collaborate with Developers, Architects and Business Analysts to assist with design and product delivery and manage implementation of agreed architecture and coding standards.
  • Own development projects from conception through build, testing, implementation and support ensuring they meet business needs.
  • Manage QA/QC resources to ensure through testing of all code before release. Utilising automated testing where possible.
  • Oversee release and deployment activities to ensure release deadlines are met according to release plans.
