Technical Assistant

Our client is looking for a Technical Assistant based in London.
  • Graduate level, ideally with at least 6 months experience in the Shipping industry.
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written.
  • Proficient with MS packages, including SharePoint.
  • Responsible for formatting monthly Technical Reports on behalf of the Fleet Manager, which then must be sent to the General Manager for approval, as per company policy.
  • Review the vessel inspection planner and VIR log – informing management on any discrepancies and examine and provide weekly records of critical defects.
  • Monitor Technical Officers’ responsibilities, the Vessel Database in SharePoint and preserve the Emergency Contact Detail Folder.
  • Prepare, review and present various (“group-level”) purchase comparisons.
  • Update in relevant sheets/folders (fleet list, fleet distribution list, etc.) new vessel acquisitions (new builds or existing vessel) via SharePoint and ensure new folders are created in collaboration with Legal and IT departments.
  • Maintain supplier contracts and agreements in consultation with General Manager and assist on various technical matters as instructed.
  • Regularly update the “PO Register/Ledger” sheet and forward on monthly.
  • Create tracker checklists (implement technical trackers via SharePoint) and closely monitor workflow trackers, to progress and report to the Head of Technical.
  • Monitor the fortnightly requisition status maintained by Technical Officers, the dry-dock planner and carry out admin liaison on projects.
  • Observe the company “Riding / Upgrade Team” tracker sheet, the company Hydro-blaster Status and maintain “Class Block Fees” and “Class Agreements” for General Manager.
  • Correspond with Flag for annual tonnage tax receipts in liaison internally and carry out technical gap analysis.
  • Review senior staff members (i.e. Fleet Manager’s / Superintendent’s etc.) visa status, ensuring they are in date.
