Our London based client are recruiting for a new UK and International Tax Manager, who will be responsible for the supervision and management of the Company’s UK tax matters (including corporate and VAT compliance) as well as Company Foreign Subsidiaries (Non-French), Branches and Offices.
 
In addition, the UK and International Tax Manage will offer support to Projects Teams (Sales, Legal, Procurement and Project Managers) for contracts, tax and VAT matters.
 
This is a Greenwich based position with a mix of home and office working.
 
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT 
  • Hold 6-8 years worth of experience in a UK & European Tax Environment, preferably within a multinational business
  • CTA Tax qualified
  • Solid understanding of SAP system
  • Knowledge of telecoms, construction projects, oil & as, terrestrial or maritime engineering advantageous
  • Some understanding of French, or willingness to learn/progress in French (French language courses will be provided by the Company)
  • An excellent communicator, with the ability to self-manage and prioritise own workload
  • Strong problem solving and organisational skills
 
JOB DESCRIPTION  
 
UK Tax:
  • Preparation and filing of Company UK corporation tax & monthly VAT returns (UK returns and French VAT returns with external assistance)s
  • Maximization of R&D Claim with specialist R&D consulting firms
  • Assistance in the preparation of notes to the financial statements
  • Management of corporate tax & VAT audits; Support for customs audit (with Logistics in charge of Customs matters)
  • Tax planning relating to Company’s UK’s tax situation, manufacturing and R&D activities
 
International Tax:
  • The Company’s French branch has operations through subsidiaries, branches and offices in Denmark, Norway, Hong Kong, USA, Capo Verde, Australia, Japan, South Korea and potentially in Brazil
  • The position involves: Overseeing tax in the various jurisdictions, including coordination of local corporate tax compliance with the assistance of external firms
  • Provide tax advice and support for these foreign units
  • Keeping up to date on tax law changes in the UK and in the foreign jurisdictions and informing stakeholders
 
 Support to Project Teams for International Contracts: 
  • Reviews of tax clauses of contracts (including purchasing contracts) and invoices in order to minimize corporate tax, withholding tax and foreign VAT exposure of the Company
  • Support to the UK based Project Managers and to the UK Legal Counsel for submarine cable construction and maintenance projects , plus any contracts relevant to Company activities
 
Group Requirements
  • Reporting for the Tax Group: reporting of corporation tax and deferred tax amounts for management purposes (initially for Company’s UK, Denmark and Norway branches)
