Our Ship Management client is looking for a Vessel Manager to join them in Glasgow.  The Vessel Manager will be responsible for co-ordinating the shore-based management for the ships under their control.
  • Marine Engineers with CoC and/or degree equivalent qualifications.
  • Proven experience with Deep Sea Vessels - Bulk Carrier experience is preferred, but not essential.
  • Previous Ship Management / Shoreside experience is strongly preferred.
  • Coordinate the activities of all support departments to ensure that adequate ship support is achieved in an efficient, cost effective manner.
  • Promote and encourage environmental issues as addressed in the Company’s Safety Management System.
  • Prepare formal reports to inform the Company and Client as to the condition, performance and cost associated of vessels under his management.
  • Make regular visits to vessels to ensure that the condition of performance meets the Company’s criteria for safe and effective operation.
  • Ensure that no maintenance planning has any unnecessary adverse effect on the commercial operation of the shop.
  • Forecasting, budgeting and accountability for the operating costs for the vessels under his management.
  • Attend the vessel during drydocking and major repair periods in order to ensure that all necessary work and repairs are satisfactorily competed within agreed budgets.
  • Any other duties as may be reasonably required by the Management of the Company
