Our Ship Management client is looking for a Vessel Manager to join them in Glasgow.  The Vessel Manager will be responsible for co-ordinating the shore base management for the ships under your superintendency.
 
Ideally candidates will have bulker experience and have sailed as a Chief or Second engineer.  Candidates with deep sea experience and who have worked for several years as a technical superintendent will also be considered.
 
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
  • To ensure in liaison with the Fleet Director/Managing Director that adequate plans and schedules are available for the ships in order that operations, maintenance and repair are carried out to at least the minimum Company Standard and to a higher standard if so detailed in the ships' QA Plan.
  • To coordinate the activities of all support departments to ensure that the ship support is achieved in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • To prepare formal reports, as directed, to inform the Company and Client as to the condition, performance and costs associated with the ships.
  • Make regular visits to the ships in order to ensure that the condition and performance of the ships meets the Company's criteria for safe and effective operation.
  • To liaise with the Fleet Director to ensure that no maintenance planning has any unnecessary adverse effect on the commercial operation of the ship.
  • Promote and encourage environmental issues as addressed in the Company’s Safety Management System.
  • Attend the ship during drydocking and major repair periods in order to ensure that all necessary work and repairs are satisfactorily completed within agreed budgets.
