Crewing Officer

We’re currently recruiting for a Crewing Officer to join our marine client based in Cork.
 
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong maritime background who enjoys keeping things moving behind the scenes! You’ll play a key role in ensuring the vessels under your responsibility are staffed with qualified, experienced and competent crew, while keeping all certification, documentation and compliance requirements fully up to date.
The Crewing Officer position is a varied role combining crew coordination, compliance, planning and communication, ideal for someone who knows their way around the maritime industry and enjoys a fast-paced, people-focused environment.
 
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
  • Previous crewing experience preferred, although candidates with 2nd or 3rd Deck Officer experience looking to transition into a shore-based role would also be considered.
  • Proficiency with MS Office including Word, Excel.
  • Proficient understanding of STCW, MLC and Flag State requirements.
  • Team Player.
  • Effective communicator.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Time management skills.
  • Flexibility for on call cover every 1 weekend in 3.
JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Scheduling of officers and ratings joining and leaving vessels in order to ensure compliance with safe manning requirements.
  • Liaison with vessels, manning agencies, port agents, travel agents to ensure that vessel relief activities are carried out in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Recruitment of officers and ratings as necessary and liaison with approved manning agencies.
  • Ensuring Officers and Ratings comply with STCW / flag state/client requirements in respect of medical requirements, certification and qualifications.
  • Monitoring performance of sea-staff and recommending appropriate corrective action if necessary.
  • Preparation, collation and provision of data/statistics as required by management at regular intervals.
  • Re-allocation of charges against Company to clients/others where appropriate.
  • Undertake any other duties/projects as may be required by Management.
