Our retail client, based in Glasgow, is looking for a Finance Manager to join their team.  As Finance Manager you will oversee the finance team and be responsible for their ongoing training and development. 
 
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
  • Ideally you will be CA, ACCA, ACA or CIMA qualified
  • At least 5 years’ experience working at a senior level within a UK retail online and multi branch environment is highly desirable.
  • Track record of leading and managing small finance teams
 
JOB DESCRIPTION
 
As well as overseeing the finance team you will also have the following responsibilities:
  • Daily banking including arranging payments to suppliers;
  • Monitoring the company cash flow and predicting trends;
  • Daily bank reconciliation within Xero;
  • Corresponding with warehouse manager to gain awareness of stock movements;
  • Corresponding with branch management to review cash and stock movements;
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts with commentary for the Board including reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts to a specific deadline
  • Correspond and provide information to external third parties including lenders with supervision of the Board;
  • Reconciliation of weekly sales to stock system;
  • Reconciliation of month end stock figure and monthly movements within the stock system to the Xero accounting system including month end timing issues;
  • Review and submission of monthly payroll on Xero under RTI;
  • Review of monthly supplier account reconciliations and investigation of anomalies;
  • Preparation, review and submission of quarterly VAT return to HMRC.
  • Preparation of annual figures for the year, including detailed reconciliation of all balance sheet items to provide to external accountants for preparation of the statutory accounts and corporation tax return;
  • Alongside the Board, prepare the budget and cashflow forecast for the subsequent year;
  • Establishing key financial controls and monitoring on a regular basis;
  • Monitoring cash management and reporting within branches;
  • Conducting reviews of current processes to identify cost saving opportunities
  • Stay up to date with changes in technology and accounting software
