Our Mortgage Specialist client is looking for a Head of New Lending (BTL) to join them on a permanent basis.
 
The Head of New Lending will have departmental responsibility for management and planning of the New Lending BTL Team, towards achieving its goals in line with the business strategy and will also be responsible for underwriting, productivity, quality, effective processes across all teams under their
management.

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
  • A minimum of 5-10 years’ experience operating at a senior level within secured lending (preferable Mortgage). Significant experience of managing multiple lending teams and underwriting operations.
  • Can work well under pressure, lending control and order to difficult and pressurized situations. Experienced in delegation, organizational and people management.
  • Ability to recognize risk issues and implications. Knows when to ask questions and when to escalate to senior management.
  • Clear understanding of the regulatory environment and in particular TCF, Responsible Lending and Complaint Handling.
  • Experience building strong relationships with internal colleagues and external business partners.
  • Proven ability to lead, develop and coach people.
 
JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Manages the process and completion of the new business pipeline with goal of: meeting departmental targets, preventing customer service issues, providing essential and meaningful reporting, and ensuring regulatory requirements are met.
  • Responsible for recruitment, training and development of New Business staff on processes and procedures to ensure the delivery of service excellence whilst business and regulatory guidelines are adhered to.
  • Responsible for adherence and effective management of operational effectiveness across departments, providing relevant reporting and remedial actions where necessary.
  • Provides direction and/or input in resolving complex or challenging loan transactions to achieve the best possible customer outcomes in line with credit policy.
  • Responsible for analysing the current processes and procedures to recognize the opportunity for greater efficiencies, cost reductions, income revenue and process enhancements.
  • Responsible for complaint handling across the business in accordance with company policy and regulatory guidelines, providing MI and root cause analysis to senior management and committees.
  • Actively promote through effective actions the principles of TCF, including the provision of case examples shared throughout the company as a whole
