A new opportunity has arisen for an HSEQ Manager to join our client in Gourock on an initial 6 month fixed term contract. 
 
The HSEQ Manager will be supporting the Head of Safety & Security with all aspects of Health, Safety, Quality and Security concerning the company’s shore-based operation to ensure compliance with HSE Legislation, Environmental legislation, the ISPS Code, the PMSC, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001
 
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
 
  • Educated to degree level with a formal nationally recognised Occupational Health and Safety  Qualification such as, NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health
  • Full member of a relevant professional body, such as IOSH
  • A strong working knowledge of all QHSE legislation and its impact on the business
  • Lead Auditor Qualification in ISO standards
  • Demonstrate the ability to successfully lead, coach and manage a safety team on all aspects of safety and security
  • Working knowledge of ports and harbours including the legislative framework around harbour operations
  • Knowledge of food safety management requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, persuasive and influential communicator
  • Demonstrate excellent time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Keen analytical and problem-solving skills which support and enable sound decision making/mature judgement
  • Good understanding of the PMSC, ISPS Code, ISM, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 and the requirements of these standards
  • Extensive experience working in a related senior management position preferably in a multifunctional organisation
  • Experience in participating in the development of safety strategy and initiatives and driving cultural change in relation to safety, including risk management and can demonstrate a successful outcome
  • Experience of working with reporting and analysis software
 
JOB DESCRIPTION 
 
  • Provide professional leadership and advice to the HSQE Team, Corporate Directors and Senior Management, to ensure the delivery of improved Health and Safety Services throughout the company
  • The principal competent Health and Safety Adviser to the company
  • Anticipate and meet legislative requirements, to ensure improved staff well‐being, welfare, working environments, and company legislative compliance
  • Work proactively with the external Regulatory Bodies (HSE, MCA, Environmental Health, Fire Service) to ensure that risk is minimised, and best practice maintained
  • Support other HSQE functions covering Fleet, Risk & Assurance, Environmental Management, Facilities Management, to deliver the HSQE Strategy in a consistent and cohesive manner
  • Develop and deliver all Health and Safety Policies and Guidance for shore operations
  • Monitor safety standards for the company to evidence and confirm compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable Health and Safety Legislation, Security legislation (ISPS) and Food Safety legislation
  • The subject matter expert (SME) on shore-based safety management, risk assessment in particular, and provide guidance and assistance across the business
  • Conduct inspections and audits to support the internal assurance programme
  • Manage the Food Safety compliance programme
  • Conduct incident investigation, establishing causes & corrective actions, recommend controls and communicate results to the relevant teams
  • Compile incident data and produce KPIs for Company-wide publication.
 
REMUNERATION PACKAGE ON OFFER 
 
£41,000 - £48,000 per annum plus an excellent benefits package
