We require a Marine Mechanic/Technician to join our Marine client in Falkirk for a 6-month contract.  This role will work on a 5 days on 3 days off rotation plan and is a land-based role.  
As a Marine Mechanic you will utilise your expertise to manage the service and maintenance of vessels and floating plant throughout the network.
 
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
  • Professional qualification in marine mechanical systems or agricultural Engineering.
  • Experience dealing with breakdowns and carrying out maintenance and repairs.
  • Experience with Cummins engines (desirable)
  • Welding and fabrication experience. (desirable)
  • Experience working with Hydraulics.
  • Agricultural plant maintenance/plant maintenance experience. (desirable)
  • Flexibility to be part of a standby rota (1 week in 4)
JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Full resourcing responsibility for all parts, equipment required to carry out the above functions for all projects.
  • Plan works to ensure adequate levels of RAMS, PPE, tools and equipment are available to carryout works efficiently and safely.
  • Use your experience and judgement when issues need upward referral and to co-ordinate and deliver agreed works.
  • Where required, carry out inspections, assessments, reports which provide prioritised and costed recommendations for continued safe operational serviceability of the fleet.
  • Work to a planned timetable, inspect, monitor and report on condition of Vessels and report back to the Assets Team. Maintain legislative and safety data including recommending fitness for purpose.
  • Apply an expert and detailed working knowledge of statutory obligations, procurement, financial, heritage and environmental requirements, and company policies, principles & standards to the delivery of work.
  • Carryout risk assessments, method statements, and safety meetings as required. Complete, incident, accident and near miss reports and refer to line manager as directed by company Policy.
  • Support staff on the standby rota in order to support delivery of customer service to defined standards and reaction to out of hours and emergency situations.
  • Regular inclusion on the company standby rota.
  • Respond, assess, recover and/or make safe, breakdown situations, apply engineering knowledge and experience to ensuring the safety of yourself and others and the installation on site. 
  • Use approved business systems for the recording and monitoring of PPM, breakdowns, inspections, and reports including time sheets, HAVS, Absences etc.
  • Comply with company Health & Safety policy and defined standards, report incidents, accidents and near misses.
  • Assist in drawing up Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Permits to Work and Isolation Method Statements for works relevant to area of expertise and knowledge.
